Senior Officers

Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated (SC-R&M) has a deep and seasoned investment team contributing to the implementation of our investment process. The combined real estate and real estate securities experience of our senior investment professionals covers a period beginning in 1974 and spans periods of various conditions in the real estate operating and investment markets ranging from depressed to highly favorable. Following is biographical information on SC-R&M's senior investment professionals.


ANTHONY R. MANNO JR. is the Chief Investment Officer of Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated, and Chairman of Security Capital Real Estate Mutual Funds Incorporated and Security Capital Preferred Growth Incorporated. He is a member of the Portfolio Management Committee and responsible for overseeing all of the investment activities for SC-R&M. Prior to joining Security Capital Group in 1994, Mr. Manno spent 14 years with LaSalle Partners Limited as a Managing Director, responsible for real estate investment banking activities. Mr. Manno began his career in real estate finance in 1974 at the First National Bank of Chicago. He received his MBA in Finance with honors from the University of Chicago and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Northwestern University with a BA and MA in Economics. Mr. Manno is also a CPA and was awarded an Elijah Watt Sells Honorable Mention.



KENNETH D. STATZ is a Managing Director and Senior Market Strategist of Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated and is a member of the Portfolio Management Committee, where he is responsible for the development and implementation of portfolio investment strategy. Prior to joining Security Capital in 1995, Mr. Statz was the Senior REIT Analyst for Goldman, Sachs & Co. concentrating on research and underwriting for the REIT industry. Previously, Mr. Statz was the REIT Portfolio Manager and a Managing Director of Chancellor Capital Management and has 15 years of experience in the real estate securities industry. Mr. Statz received his MBA and BBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin.


KEVIN W. BEDELL is a Senior Vice President of Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated and a member of the Portfolio Management Committee where he directs the Investment Analysis Team, which provides in-depth proprietary research on publicly traded companies. Prior to joining Security Capital in 1996, Mr. Bedell spent nine years with LaSalle Partners Limited where he was equity vice president and portfolio manager with responsibility for strategic, operational and financial management of a private real estate investment trust with commercial real estate investments in excess of $1 billion. Mr. Bedell received his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and his BA from Kenyon College.


DAVID T. NOVICK
is a Senior Vice President of Security Capital Group and serves as Chief Compliance Officer of its affiliated domestic regulated entities, including Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated. Prior to joining Security Capital in 1998, Mr. Novick was a Partner at Katten Muchin and Zavis. He brings over 10 years of securities experience to Security Capital. Mr. Novick received a BSBA from Boston University and a JD from the University of Illinois College of Law.


DAVID E. ROSENBAUM is a Senior Vice President of Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated with primary responsibility for origination and structuring of privately negotiated investments. Prior to joining Security Capital in 1997, Mr. Rosenbaum was a Vice President at Lazard Frères & Co., LLC, where he structured investments in real estate operating companies. Previously, he was an Associate in the New York and Chicago offices of Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, where he executed merger and acquisition transactions for real estate and hotel companies. Mr. Rosenbaum holds a BA from Yale University.



JEFFREY C. NELLESSEN CPA, CMA, CFP
, is a Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Controller and is responsible for directing the financial operations for Security Capital Research & Management Incorporated. Mr. Nellessen has over 14 years of experience in financial operations. Prior to joining Security Capital in 1997, he was with Strong Capital Management, Inc., where he served as controller, client administration manager, and compliance officer. Before joining Strong Capital Management, Inc., Mr. Nellessen was an auditor with Arthur Andersen LLP. Mr. Nellessen received a BBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin.
